MAPAT - The Teaching Center for Educational Programs

"MAPAT" was established in 1999 as an Association (Amuta 580349587) for providing informal extensive after-school programs to the children of new immigrants from the FSU with the goal to reinforce the formal school knowledge in Mathematics, Physics, English and in Russian.
The group of the teachers, new immigrants from the FSU, in cooperation with well-known professors of the Tel - Aviv University was the initiative team and the founders of the organization "MAPAT".
Main office is located in the "Shevach-Mofet" school (Tel-Aviv). 95% of the school students are Russian immigrants.

Mission

We believe that by creating the friendly atmosphere of active Jewish learning through the various programs developed in the framework of Jewish informal education we encourage the Russian – speaking new immigrants to become proud citizens of Israel feeling them the integral part of the Israeli society.
We are convinced that learning of Israeli and Jewish values by children and parents together strengthens the families and assists all the family members in their personal development and success in life in Israel.

Goals

  • to encourage the new families from FSU to better integrate in the Israeli society in the spheres of education and social life
  • to raise the level of Jewish and Israeli identity among Russian speaking olim families by providing the program participants with new knowledge in Jewish and Israeli tradition, history, cultural and social life
  • to enhance the development of young Israeli leadership by training and involving outstanding Russian-speaking teenagers in the MAPAT programs
